Little Chatterbox - 3 to 5 years (Preschoolers) - Designed to be conducted in Preschools.
Making reading a fun alternative for these little ones can sometimes be a challenge but at The Reading Garden we are up to the challenge.
These sessions are designed to peak your child's interest in reading and storytelling as well as build their fine motor skills.
Sessions are divided into two parts.
The first part involves storytelling with props.
The second part involves crafting! The children, with the assistance of teachers and Reading Garden staff, create a craft related to the book.
ALL the materials for crafts will be provided by The Reading Garden.
Example of what a session may look like:
Book of the Day: “Book about ABC” – This book illustrates the alphabet using repetition of phrases and silly rhymes.
Room: The Room will be “decorated” with letters of the alphabet in several colours and sizes. The idea is to create an atmosphere where the children feel they have stepped into the book.
Interactive Storytelling: The story is read by the instructor and the children are given musical instruments which they will use to take part in the storytelling. When the instructor indicates, the children will repeat the key phrase using the musical instruments for dramatic effect.
"Creative Me": The children will recreate a scene/scenes from the story using stencils, pallet sticks, stickers and colour pencils/crayons, paint and other materials.
